Rhyme & Reason Presents: A Reasonable Gift

Rhyme & Reason, the production company of musical masterminds, Josh Lay and Morgan Turner, released the Christmas album, A Reasonable Gift, through Enon Music Group earlier this month. The various talents that came together for this album are out of this world. Seriously, I encourage you all to check out the credits for this project as well. To say that A Reasonable Gift is good, is merely an understatement.

It was very difficult for me not to discuss all ten songs on this holiday compilation, nevertheless, I shall begin. We get those good ole’ “hand clappin’ and foot stoppin” sounds on “Jesus What a Wonderful Child” as well as the bright morning praise and worship melodies of “Glorious”. There's another moment when we're ushered into an atmosphere of worship on “Holy One”. We get a fresh arrangement of “O Come Emmanuel”, which is infused with smooth reggae beats. You’ll also be sure to get in a nice little bop on Donny Hathaway’s soulful classic, “This Christmas”, which is reinterpreted with a biscuits and gravy gospel quartet flavor. Last, but certainly not least, you’ll love the “R&R Finale: Hallelujah Chorus”. Rhyme & Reason remained true to Mervyn Warren’s 1992 arrangement of the chorus “Hallelujah” from Handel’s Messiah, while capturing the unique vocal styles of the artists.

This well rounded project is a staple for me moving forward.

A Reasonable Gift is available now on all digital music outlets.
