3 Days of Gratitude: Day 1

Day 1

Hello Unscripted Society! I'm happy to connect with all of you again.

It's the week of Thanksgiving and I'm inviting you to go on a 3-day journey with me in the beautiful land of gratitude.

Today is Day 1 of this journey. We're actually starting this in the evening. Sometimes evenings are a great time for reflection as you unwind.

As we get closer to the end of the year, we're prone to do mini self-evaluations, which may then lead to goal setting for the next year or New Year's resolutions.

Sometimes the good practice of self-evaluation may turn into a comparison trap or a pity party. We may get stuck on everything that isn't going right in our lives. We may begin to measure ourselves against the progress that others have made and before you know it, here come the holiday blues.

If you can relate to any of that, I'd like to challenge you to change the narrative. Maybe you're not at the place in life where you'd like to be. Maybe you've made many mistakes this year. Whichever low place that you may find yourself in, know that you can still find comfort in the land of gratitude.

This evening we'll focus on Psalm 139:17-18a KJV:

"How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand."

Tonight we are grateful that the Lord is constantly thinking of us. The number of thoughts that he has towards us is compared to sand. Think of each grain of sand. Imagine being on a beach and trying to count each and every grain of sand!?! That's just how much we are on the mind of God. This is just how much he cares!

Since he cares this much, we can also rest assured that our present circumstances will not remain forever. Sorrow won't last forever. Disappointment won't last forever. God will guide us through it all.

Take a moment. Quiet yourself. Do some slow breathing. You can place both hands over your heart if you desire to do so. As you inhale and exhale, reflect on the scripture above.

You could even close your eyes and recite it out loud too.

Inhale.

Exhale: Tonight I am filled with gratitude.

Inhale.

Exhale: Thank you Lord for your precious thoughts towards me.

Inhale.

Exhale: Your precious thoughts towards me outnumber the grains of sand.

Inhale.

Exhale: Thank you God for loving me.

Inhale.

Exhale: I am loved by God.

Inhale.

Exhale: Tonight I am filled with gratitude.

Inhale.

Exhale: I am protected by God's love.

Feel free to repeat this again.

Tonight, we are grateful that God thinks of us. He sees us, and he remembers us.
